Angkor what??
This week end, we visited the very old city of Angkor! Old enough indeed since Anglor Wat for instance, the most famous, was built in the 12th century. Except from the temples, dedicated to hindouism and sometimes to buddhism as well, the houses, palaces and others disappeared with the time, this bastard.
Cécile, Samol and your servant left from Battambang by boat in the early morning (yes I can get up early sometimes, even everyday since we have to be at the office before 8am!).
This structure is made to fish. There is a big net underhung at one end and the hut of the fisherman and the family at the other end!
Floating village
Et voilou, our first temple (we arrived at the end of the afternoon, 8h on the boat), Phnom Bakeng, known for its best view for sunset... Known that's the word, I knew that it would be crowded but not that much! People were sitting towards the sun like at the theatre. Where is the pop corn? Anyway, it reminds me that many turists just come to Siem Reap, the city near Angkor, and see this town as the basic town in Cambodia, which is highly a mistake. Siem Reap is nice, very nice compared to the rest of the country.
Ok, it worths a look ^^
Nice carving isn't it? Although brutal...some hands drag around and hurt sometimes! Look closely ^^
On y était!
In the center, some guards, surrounded by beautiful apsaras, mythological Khmer dancers!
After the imposing Angkor Wat, here is the mysterious and captivating Ta Prohm, surrounded, invaded by the jungle!
